Bloxxle is a modern block puzzle game that challenges your spatial reasoning and strategic thinking. The goal is simple: place blocks on an 8×8 grid to fill complete rows and columns. When a row or column is completely filled, it clears from the board, earning you points. The game ends when you can no longer place any of your available blocks. Bloxxle is free to play in your browser on any device — no download required.
The game board consists of an 8×8 grid with 64 cells. At the start of each round, you receive three randomly shaped blocks. These blocks come in various shapes — from simple 1×1 squares to complex L-shapes, T-shapes, and long bars. Your task is to drag and drop each block onto the grid.
Blocks cannot overlap with existing pieces on the board, and they must fit entirely within the grid boundaries. Once placed, a block cannot be moved or rotated. After you place all three blocks, a new set of three blocks appears. Planning ahead is essential — you need to think about where each block will go before committing to a placement.
When you completely fill a row (all 8 cells in a horizontal line) or a column (all 8 cells in a vertical line), that line is cleared from the board, freeing up space for new blocks. You can clear multiple rows and columns simultaneously for bonus points.
Points are awarded for every block you place and every line you clear. The scoring system rewards efficient play and strategic combos:
The highest-scoring players master the art of setting up multi-line clears and maintaining long combo streaks. A single well-placed block that clears 3 or 4 lines simultaneously can earn hundreds of points.
The original Bloxxle experience. Play at your own pace with no time limit. Place blocks, clear lines, and chase your personal highscore. This is the mode that counts for the global leaderboard.
Classic gameplay enhanced with special power-ups. Use the Bomb to clear a 3×3 area, or the Joker Block to fill any single cell. Power-ups add a layer of strategy — save them for when you really need them, or use them aggressively to set up massive combos.
Race against the clock! Score as many points as possible within 60, 90, or 120 seconds. Quick thinking and fast placement are key. This mode tests your speed and decision-making under pressure.
The board never ends, but the difficulty increases over time. Blocks become more complex and the pace quickens. How long can you survive? Endless mode is perfect for players who want a relaxing but progressively challenging experience.
Challenge other players in real-time 1v1, 3-player, or 4-player matches. Both players receive the same block sequence, so it is a pure test of skill. The player with the higher score when the timer runs out — or when the opponent gets a game over — wins the match.
Embark on a journey through 10 themed worlds with over 100 levels. Each level has unique objectives — clear a certain number of rows, reach a target score, or complete the board within a move limit. Earn stars based on your performance and unlock new worlds as you progress.
One of the most important strategies in Bloxxle is to keep the center of the board as open as possible. Place blocks along the edges and corners first. This gives you maximum flexibility for fitting larger or awkwardly shaped blocks later in the game. If the center fills up, you will quickly run out of valid placements.
Before placing your first block, look at all three available blocks and plan where each one will go. A common mistake is placing the first block without considering the other two. Sometimes the best move for block #1 is not the most obvious one — it might be better to place it in a less optimal spot to ensure blocks #2 and #3 have good positions.
The biggest points come from clearing multiple rows and columns simultaneously. Try to build up nearly-complete rows and columns, then place a single block that completes several lines at once. A well-timed 3-line or 4-line clear can be worth more than 10 individual single-line clears.
Consecutive line clears build combo multipliers. Try to clear at least one line with every block placement to keep your combo going. Even a single-line clear is better than breaking your streak. Advanced players can maintain combos of 5, 10, or even 20+ consecutive clears.
Bloxxle shows a transparent "ghost" preview of where your block will land as you drag it across the grid. Use this preview to precisely position your blocks. On mobile, you can also tap a block to select it, then tap a cell on the grid to place it there — this gives you pixel-perfect control.
Corner cells are the hardest to clear because they require both their row and column to be completely filled. If a corner gets blocked by an isolated piece, it can be very difficult to clear. Try to keep corners as part of your active clearing strategy rather than letting them accumulate random blocks.
Bloxxle features over 20 different block shapes, from simple 1×1 dots to complex 5-cell pieces. Learning to recognize each shape quickly and knowing where it fits best is a skill that improves with practice. The most challenging shapes are the large L-pieces and T-pieces — always have a plan for where these will go.
Your skill level in Bloxxle is determined by your all-time best score. As you improve, you will climb through the ranks:

Bloxxle multiplayer matches pit you against other players in real-time. Both players receive the exact same sequence of blocks, making it a pure test of skill and strategy. Here is how it works:
Multiplayer matches are a great way to test your skills against real opponents. The pressure of competing in real-time often leads to different strategies than solo play — speed becomes more important, and risky multi-line setups can pay off big or end your game early.
